Jagjit Singh was a famous Indian ghazal singer, musician and musician. He is called "Ghazal Raja", along with his wife Chitra Singh, another great Indian ghazal singer has gained popularity in a wider scale in the 1970s and 1980s. Along with The Arthur End, two albums from the movies are the best-selling combination of HMV albums. Jagjit Singh's double album with Lata Mangeshkar holds the same record in non-film section. He popularized the ghazal to a great extent. He sang in many languages, the duet's album "The Unforgettable" met with great success. The track "Mantho to Churu Loo Tu" from the movie Prem songs, and together with the number of "cum co-films", "Thy Tara Ghar Ye Mere" became a classics, she gave voice in many Hindi films. She played the role of TV serial Mirza Ghalib The poet who was singing was based on Mirza Ghalib's life.
He received great respect during his excellent career. In 2012, Rajasthan government gave posthumously its highest civilian award, Rajastan Ratna to Jagjit Singh. In 2003, the Indian government honored him with Padma Bhushan, the nation's third largest civil award. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1998.
